Pembroke oil refinery is a multi acre site with a large amount of complex equipment, the control of which is vital to the production and safty.
Ibex were initially commissioned to project manage with a design input the refurbishment of one of the main refinery control rooms. This highly complex project was additionally complicated by the control rooms need to stay operational twenty four hours a day seven days a week.
The project was to improve the working environment. New lighting, refurbishment and improvement of the ventilation and replacing the main Air handling equipment, including installation of a new feature ceiling in the control room, new flooring, new walls and control room desking, as well as upgrading of the catering and welfare facilities
The project took place within a very stringent health and safety regime which far exceeds that found on a normal site.
The Ibex team were able to source sub contractors to work along side Ibex Director Trevor Hancock to carry out some of the innovative features of the design. Project manage the whole of the strip out and installation at the same time as liaising with control room operators and refinery management to ensure that the there was no disruption to the refinery operation.
Following the successful completion of this project Ibex have subsequently carried out similar projects in another control room on site, designed and managed installation of new air filtration equipment, designed and managed new climate control to on site laboratory facility and designed and project managed the conversion of an ambient atmosphere control room in an intrinsically safe area to an externally pressurized facility
